WHO WE ARE
The Law Enforcement community in southwestern Ohio has created a 501-C-3 organization dedicated to providing immediate resources and financial support for the families of officers killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. The Shield was developed as a vision of the Hamilton County Association of Chiefs of Police, through the creation of a charter membership in the “One Hundred Club”, which includes those who contribute at least $100 during the first year. It is endorsed and supported by the Hamilton County Police Association and the Hamilton County Association of Chiefs of Police, both of whom are Platinum Sponsors (donations of $1,000 or more).
The goal of The Shield is to secure a large fund of money which, through interest and equity, will be able to meet the needs of deserving recipients. In order to accomplish this we need the support of benefactors who are willing to become charter members. There are two levels of donation: “The One-Hundred Club” as described above; and “Shield Member”, which involves any amount of giving. All One-Hundred Club members will receive a prestigious lapel pin in appreciation for their support. Our long range goal is expansion to encompass all of Hamilton, Clermont, Butler, and Warren counties through annual contributions and by solicitation to private and corporate contributors.
The Board of Directors consists of the following: Chief Dennis Rees, President; Chief Mike Laage, Vice-President; Chief Jack Monahan, Treasurer; Chief John Coletta, Secretary; and Captain Richard Schmalz, Benefits Coordinator.
As police officers/civilians you are presented with the opportunity to become a Charter Member of the One-Hundred Club of The Shield. Providing a fund for the benefit of our officers and families is an important endeavor. Charter membership is a leadership issue that makes a huge statement in the Law Enforcement Community. As officers we need to take care of our own. Remember, it is never the wrong time to do the right thing.
